So the Gazette staff has a lot to do tracking down public notices that never appear online, tracking down notices that only appear on bulletin boards, tracking down notices that never appear at all… and occasionally we let loose when too much is too much; this is one of those times.
So first, we applaud the school district for noticing a hearing in the Thursday, May 28, 2015 Ledger:
Notice is hearby given that the Mason School Board will meet Monday June 8, 2015 at 5:45p.m. in the Multi-Purpose Room of the Mason Elementary School, 13 Darling Hill Road for the purpose of discussing the proposed informational sign.
However, the first question that comes to mind: 5:45p.m what a marvelous time.
Second question: why no tracks on the district web site? Why no notice in any Mason blog (the Gazette is not the only blog)? Maybe we missed it? Maybe it will appear after our post? Maybe the district took offense to our rant about signs or coverage about other questions? Do we need to include driving downtown to read a hearing notice on the district’s delicatessen sign for complete coverage?
So now we’re going to call a spade a spade… many of us find online notifications more useful. AND, we might add, it should cost no more to provide notifications there than it does to maintain the existing web site in the first place.
However, perhaps the district needs an out of proportion sign to keep up with the clutter that has become the common… see here or here. And that doesn’t even count the no pipes and evacuation zone stuff found around the rest of town.
ENOUGH WITH THE SIGNS ALREADY!
Or as a submitted church news letter put it regarding another matter: “fight this potential blight on our town”.
