Mason School District, April 13, 2015

The Mason School Board met at its usual time at 6:30 on April 13, 2015, the public part was a very short meeting. Attendance of the board was down to three of five members, but they pressed on. Unfortunately we lost our pencil along the way, so the only thing of substance is the School District Audit for the year ending June 30, 2014 which was presented as a handout and scanned here.

So for those of you with a fine eye to detail, you might notice the scan of text (to which we hate to resort) only includes pages 1,2, 5 and 9 as those were the only pages handed out. Appears the paperless school system ate the other pages and ignored “the notes to the basic financial statements are an integral part of this statement” at the bottom of the exhibit pages.

We don’t think the auditor meant the kind of integration we did in college math 10 calculus.

Other item of note is that the purchasing policy DJE (see second reading and first reading) was approved by the board at this meeting.

The superintendent still questioned what triggered quotes vs bids, especially in regard to an illuminated sign the district plans on placing by the school.

Illuminated sign?? While the school district does not necessarily need to follow the zoning orinances (those are only for ordinary folk), former selectman Richards commented to us after the meeting “That’s not very colonial, who decided that?”.
