The Town (the ballot portions) and School elections will be held Tuesday, March 11, 2014, 11am to 7pm at the Town Hall. Seems the school district and the town are taking turns hosting this annual event and we’re sure the change of venue had nothing to do with the extra custodial services for the multipurpose room at the school. In any case, that water has passed under the bridge, so hopefully the school will enjoy the use of its building without imposition by the riff-raff that votes on weekdays.
Town meeting (the historical kind) will occur on Saturday, March 15, 2014 starting at 9:00am at the school. Be prepared to spend the day to discuss a 4% increase in the town budget. Given that our savings generate less that 1% interest (if that), we view a 4% increase substantial. In addition, many parts of the police and highway budgets have been permanently moved to special warrant articles that will only cost “a few cents”. We suspect that spending all day fighting being taxed to death a few pennies at a time would be an exercise in futility; however, we do hope the traditionalists in the town take a shot at it and spend all day at the festivity.
