Achievers: Betty Mulrey

News from Betty Mulrey, first Kindergarten Teacher/Principal at the new Mason School District.

“It’s finally happened. I got a doctorate in K-12 leadership.”

“My dissertation research was on how to generate social problem-solving skills in young children ages 3 through 6 (learning how to solve problems together with others). This way children can see other perspectives, see solutions they may not have thought of, see that there can be more than one solution to a problem, and realize that if one solution doesn’t work, we can always try another. Life is all about problem-solving, and it helps children so much to develop skills in this area starting at a young age.”

“I have to thank you [Board Members, Administration, school and community] for your expertise and knowledge you shared with me over the years. You made me think in broader perspectives, and to truly engage my mind in the issues of education, equity, and social justice.”

“I am forever grateful.”
