Mason, NH, October 27 – George and Catherine Schwenk and the Mason Conservation Commission appeared before the selectmen to enquire about the possibility of donating part of their homestead (Tax Map E-75) to the town.
The effect would be to subdivide lot E-75, with the 9 acres donated then joining lot E-67 and E-76 both already owned by the Town of Mason, Conservation Commission. This would eliminate fragmentation and create one 22 acre lot much of which is prime swamp habitat. The conservation commission also owns Lot E-61 across Merriam Hill Rd, so the net effect is even larger.
The selectmen voted to go ahead with the proposal subject to a survey and planning board approval.
The Schwenks previously donated the Town Quarry and the selectmen thanked them for their generosity.
Picture is worth a thousand words, but the town web site containing the tax maps was down when this was posted.
